Unconditional Love “Now am I trying to win the favor of men, or of God? Do I seek to please men? If I were still seeking popularity with men, I should not be a bond servant of Christ (the Messiah)”(Galatians 1:10). Rejection is one of the most painful experiences anyone can endure. Because it’s so painful we seek to avoid it at all cost. We spend the bulk of our lives trying to impress, perform or attain a certain amount of prestige and social status in order to gain the acceptance of our peers, family and friends. We labor under the false assumption that if we can do everything perfectly then we will be accepted by those we are trying to please. But no matter how hard we try how far we have come or how high we have risen we always come up short and never seem to receive the unconditional love and acceptance we desire. Is this the way God expects you to live your life, constantly seeking the approval of men? Of course not! He would rather you seek Him, developing a personal relationship which will cause you to mature and see your self from His perspective. The yearning to belong and feel accepted has been placed in you by God. He placed you in a family to be loved, nurtured and cared for, but since the disobedience of man we know this has not been the caseTherefore God is the only one who can fill the void and meet the need to be loved and accepted unconditionally. He does not base His love and acceptance of you on your performance, but on the shed blood of His son Jesus Christ in whom you have redemption.“[All] are justified and made upright and in right standing with God, freely and gratuitously by His grace (His unmerited favor and mercy), through the redemption which is [provided] in Christ Jesus,”(Romans 3:24- Amplified). God loves you unconditionally, approves of you wholeheartedly and accepts you completely. Over coming the fear of rejection is to see your self from God’s perspective and not from the perspective of men.
