I Can

" I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me " (Philippians 4:13).

How many times have you uttered these two little words "I Can't" in just the past few weeks? I can imagine if you are anything like I use to be, you ran out of fingers and toes because you really do not remember ever believing you could do anything. This seems to be the abnormal thinking of many who have suffered abuse. We have such a hard time believing we are worthy, capable or talanted, we have self-defeating ideas and we limit ourselves greatly.  Our brain seems to be imprinted with the phrases "useless" and since we believe this is what we are, therefore "we can't".

I have struggled in this area for years. When ever I was asked by someone to do a thing thy felt I was capable and talanted to do, I would reply "I can't".  It was not until a friend pointed out this scripture and encouraged me to practice saying, "I can do all things through Christ".  As I ventured to put it into action by doing, then I began to believe, "perhaps I can". I cannot say the change took place over night but what a difference it has made in my life.  I no longer believe myself to be useless and worthless, but usable and worthy by God.

So I would like to encourage you as I was encouraged to take the risk of trusting God and allow him to do through you, in you, and with you what He wants to do.  You will be amazed at what you can do through Him and what He can do through you.
