The Battle Is The Lord's "AFTER THIS, the Moabites, the Ammonites, and with them the Meunites came against Jehoshaphat to battle. It was told Jehoshaphat, A great multitude has come against you from beyond the [Dead] Sea, from Edom; and behold they are in Hazazon-ta-mar, which is En-gedi. Then Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself [determinedly, as in his vital need] to seek the Lord; he proclaimed a fast in all Judah. Then the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jahaziel son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, in the midst of the assembly. He said, Hearken, all Judah, you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you King Jehoshaphat. The Lord says this to you: Be not afraid or dismayed at the great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s” (2 Chronicles 20:1-3; 14-15, Amplified). How are we to handle an invasion of the enemy? We are warned in 1 Peter 5:8 to be vigilant at all times because our enemy, the devil, goes about as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. The news of the invasion was disturbing to Jehoshaphat, yet he did not lose focus of where his help came from. He turned his attention to seek the Lord. This should be our first step as well when dealing with the enemy’s invasion into our lives. We should turn our focus on the Lord , who is our help and strength and not on the situation. God has blessed us with the example of scripture to know how to deal with things in this life. In verse 12, the king is praying he does not know what to do, but their eyes remained on the Lord. Their answer to the invasion was and is our answer. In verse 22, they began to praise the Lord with thanksgiving. You see we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual wickedness in high places (Ephesians 6:12). Praise is the weapon of warfare in the spirit realm. When the singers began to praise, the Lord set ambushments against the enemy. He will do the same for you when you raise your voice in praise. God is ready and wanting to fight your battle. When the invasion comes, make it your priority to stand still and not fret . Give Him praise with thanksgiving for what He has already done and see His great salvation, for the battle is not yours but the Lord’s.
