Forgiveness Brings Healing
“Let all bitterness and indignation and wrath (passion, rage, bad temper) and resentment (anger, animosity) and quarreling (brawling, clamor, contention) and slander (evil-speaking, abusive or blasphemous language) be banished from you, with all malice (spite, ill will, or baseness of any kind). And become useful and helpful and kind to one another, tenderhearted (compassionate, understanding, loving-hearted), forgiving one another [readily and freely], as God in Christ forgave you” (Ephesians 4:31-32, Amplified).
Many of us who have been abused often find ourselves trapped in a root of bitterness and anger. We are so hurt and filled with pain that we find it very hard to love and or forgive. But to remain bitter and angry only causes us harm. It is like a poison running through our bodies and minds destroying our souls.
But our heavenly Father does not want this poison of anger and bitterness permeating our lives. He wants to remove it and fill us with His love. He is a God of great compassion, love and grace. He chose to show us His love through His son, Jesus Christ.
So let go of the bitterness, let go of the anger and give it to the Lord. By hanging onto it, it will only continue to eat away at your innermost being until you are consumed. Instead forgive, and receive the healing power of God’s love in you.
