Delivered From Fear

“I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.  My soul shall make its boast in the LORD; The humble shall hear of it and be glad.  Oh, magnify the LORD with me, And let us exalt His name together. I sought the LORD, and He heard me, And delivered me from all my fears” (Psalms 34:1-4, NKJV).

In this psalm David is praising and thanking God for delivering him from his fears. David was being held captive, but he cried out to God to be delivered from the hands of the enemy.

We too can cry out to God just as David did in our times of distress and God will be there to hear us.  But we must remember to praise Him at all times no matter the circumstance. Praising God takes our minds off our problems and focuses our attention on Him.  With our eyes squarely focused on Him then our problems will seem to vanish away.  Because in His presence there is peace, there is safety and shelter from life’s storms.

In the light of His presence we will be able to declare just as David in Psalms 27:1, “The LORD is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear?  The LORD is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?”
